Foundations
These were written as accompanying material for the MDG Library Carpentry workshop 2026 in Birmingham and are meant as foundational material for working with non-MARC data. Though they tackle quite technical topics and concepts, they are written for (metadata) librarians without a techincal background and thus aim to be very accessible and in plain English. However, they build on each other and an exercise is running through them (except for Data types and Data encoding).
